Why The M16 Is The Best Weapon In Warzone Right Now
Earlier this week, Raven Software released a surprise hot-fix that nerfed the AUG and the FFAR. Both of these weapons were extremely overpowered and dominated the meta in Call of Duty: Warzone along with the M16 tactical rifle.
While the AUG and FFAR are still viable options, the M16 remained relatively untouched by the recent nerfs.
Why wasn’t it nerfed too? Well, the AUG and FFAR were more popular options. As a result, the M16 just didn’t get as much flak online compared to the other meta weapons and managed to somewhat fly under the radar.
Back in March, YouTuber NickMercs posted a video explaining why the M16 is just as viable as the AUG (keep in mind, this was before the recoil nerf).
“The M16 and the AUG, they basically do the same thing. I mean, the AUG might be a little bit faster. I don’t really know what it is. But, both of them, when you’re aiming at a guy down sight, it does the same thing.”
He also suggested that if a nerf does go out for the AUG, Raven Software should also nerf the M16 too.
“Now here’s the thing. A lot of people want the AUG nerfed. They want this thing gone. Out of the game. I’m a firm believer that if they’re going to nerf the AUG, they better nerf this M16 too. Because if they don’t, everybody’s going to be running around with the M16. It’s going to be the same thing as it is now, just with a different gun. Trust me.”
Turns out, he was completely right. If you’ve dropped into Verdansk since the update, you’ve probably noticed the slight shift in the meta already. Gone is the AUG and in its place, we have the M16.
Best M16 Setup
With the burst rifle meta still dominating Warzone via the M16, NickMercs also shared a great loadout for the M16 and some gameplay of the loadout in action:
- Muzzle – Agency Silencer
- Barrel – 15.9″ Strike Team
- Optic – Axial Arms 3x
- Underbarrel – Field Agent Foregrip
- Ammunition – 45 Round
