“Some Really Cool Stuff” Is Coming To Warzone Over The Next Few Seasons
Snow was asked if Warzone could move into hosting more social events like Fortnite. Here was Snow’s response:
“We certainly see Warzone as a very large ecosystem that can continue to engage players and provide places and spaces for people to gather.”
“In the upcoming seasons, you’re going to see some really cool new stuff that Warzone has never done before. It’ll be really exciting and done in a Call of Duty way.”
“We don’t look at Fornite as a competitor. We’re really focused on making Warzone be the best it can be. Only Warzone could do the zombies the way we do them. Only Warzone could do things that we have planned in upcoming seasons. Call of Duty: Cold War’s identity and ‘80s theme offer tons of opportunities for innovative content.”
“If we were to check back with each other in about four to five weeks, we might be able to speak a little bit more specifically. We certainly see an opportunity for Warzone to play a part of our esports product around the Call of Duty franchise. We plan to bring that to the table pretty soon.”
Based on those comments, it seems that some type of announcement or event is on the horizon. As we already know, a zombie outbreak is starting to spread throughout Verdansk.
Furthermore, there are several reports that this outbreak will lead to Verdansk being wiped out entirely to make room for a brand-new map in the Black Ops Cold War era.
These comments may also bring a bit of optimism to those who have been disappointed by the lack of major changes to Warzone over the past year.
In the Inverse interview, Snow also discussed the e-sports scene, plans for the Call of Duty League post-pandemic, and more.
