We Probably Won’t See Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered Anytime Soon
In early 2020, Activision released a remaster for one of the publisher’s most successful games ever. Modern Warfare 2. However, it released with a catch.
On top of the game being a 30-day exclusive for PlayStation players, the remaster for Modern Warfare 2 only included the game’s story campaign.
This has led to several reports and rumors saying that Activision will eventually add the game’s beloved multiplayer to the remaster sometime in the future.
On Twitter, Call of Duty insider Tom Henderson responded to a user asking for Henderson’s thoughts on Modern Warfare 2 Remastered getting multiplayer in the future. Here what Henderson had to say.
Henderson provided a few more potential details on why Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer remastered hasn’t released yet over on the insider’s YouTube channel, TheLongSensation.
In the video, Henderson said that development on MW2 multiplayer remastered was likely cut short due to time constraints and Infinity Ward working on Modern Warfare (2019).
Henderson also believes another possible reason behind Activision holding off on releasing a multiplayer remaster for MW2 lies with the current state of CoD not matching up with what people loved about the original game (mainly the intense skill-based matchmaking).
To round out the video, Henderson discussed the possibility of Modern Warfare 3 campaign remastered and when it could be released. You can see the full video below.
So, it looks like we won’t see MW2 multiplayer remastered anytime soon. With the success of Modern Warfare (2019) and Black Ops Cold War, it’ll be interesting to see when (or if) Activision decides to ever move forward with the rumored multiplayer remasters.
