Outbreak Is Coming To Black Ops Cold War In Season 2

Treyarch has officially unveiled its new large-scale Black Ops Cold War zombies mode, Outbreak. You can see our first glimpse of the mode in the trailer below.

In a blog post, Activision shared a little more on the upcoming zombies mode. Here’s an excerpt from the post.

“As Requiem continues to fall behind in the arms race against Omega Group, various regions in the Ural Mountains have recently become Dark Aether outbreak sites. With new opportunities to research the Dark Aether and advance Requiem’s agenda, it’s up to you and three fellow agents to complete the deadly experiments that few have survived.

Continuing the Dark Aether story, Outbreak takes place across massive play spaces throughout the Ural Mountains, packed with new enemies, team objectives, player rewards, and intel to discover on foot, in vehicles, or by jump pads. Whether its hunting down elite enemies using a satellite tracker, escorting a Rover that detects dimensional portals, or holding out against zombies in a confined Dark Aether zone, agents of Requiem will need to complete these investigations before they can Exfil… or risk entering a Dark Aether portal to a new region for even more rewards.”

The post states that Treyarch will be releasing several guides and other information on Outbreak soon. Outbreak is expected to arrive during Season 2’s launch week.

Alongside Outbreak, Black Ops Cold War zombies players will receive a new Field Upgrade and a new Ammo Mod in Season 2.

• Frenzied Guard (Field Upgrade)
  • “Upon activation, all enemies will immediately target the Frenzied Guard user for a brief period, during which time only Armor will take damage. This can be a game-changer when fellow Operators are surrounded by the undead masses, as they will turn their attention away from those in peril and towards the armored savior.”
• Shatter Blast (Ammo Mod)
  • “Makes all bullets deal explosive damage. Each bullet also has a chance to explode dealing additional explosive damage and destroying any impacted armor.”

On top of this, players will have two new skill tiers to unlock. They can unlock these tiers through two new Aetherium Crystal types, Refined and Flawless Aetherium Crystals.
