The mysterious hooded figure from Pawn takes Pawn has been revealed!

Treyarch revealed a new URL under the Pawn Takes Pawn site this morning where the hooded figure revealed himself to be William Bowman, the son of Joseph Bowman from the first Black Ops game.

Furthermore, it looks like we’re getting another ARG easter egg hunt tomorrow. At the bottom of the page, there’s a note that reads:

“PawnTakesPawn 10/28 1 pm PT — Unlock the next part of the story”

(MAJOR SPOILERS for Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 down below)

Who Is Joseph Bowman?

For those who don’t know or are too young to know, which makes me feel really old, Joseph Bowman was a member of the SOG group during the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops 1. Bowman fought alongside Alex Mason and was the right-hand man to Frank Woods. Basically, Joseph Bowman was one of the main protagonists alongside those two and Mason’s CIA handler, Jason Hudson.

In the Black Ops 1 campaign mission titled “Payback,” Woods, Mason, and Bowman are being held prisoner by the Soviet and Vietcong forces. The captured members of the SOG team are then forced to play a game of Russian Roulette. A mentally and emotionally broken down Bowman refuses to go along. He is then brutally killed by a Soviet interrogator with a pipe. Woods and Mason would later escape their prison, kill their captors, and get some measure of revenge for their fallen friend.

What Role Could William Bowman Play In Black Ops Cold War?

Past videos involving the hooded man did indicate that something traumatic happened to his father and that was part of the man’s motivations. Now that we know the figure is the son of Joseph Bowman, we can begin to theorize on what this could mean for Black Ops Cold War.

Will William Bowman be an ally of Woods and Mason in Black Ops Cold War? Or could he blame them for his father’s death and play a more antagonistic role in the game’s story? Or, could William Bowman just be a character for the PawnTakesPawn website? We may find all that out in tomorrow’s PawnTakesPawn event. Regardless of what gets revealed tomorrow, we’ll update you on the PawnTakesPawn website when anything new comes up.
