Call of Duty Fans Rejoice as Prestige Mode Returns

Today Call of Duty released the details on their newest progression system for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. This new progression system will also be available in Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone starting December 10th 2020.

While the content has already been announced by Call of Duty, it was a bit hard to wrap our heads around. Here’s a detailed and concise explanation that the casual Call of Duty fan can understand about the new prestige system.

New Prestige System in Modern Warfare, Warzone, Black Ops Cold War Explained

Treyarch has just revealed full details on the new progression system in Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare, and Warzone. It has left a portion of the community slightly confused on how it all works, so I hope this helps to clear it up for some of you, as it is quite a new and complex system.

MILITARY RANKS:

Core Progression is Level 1-to-55, once you complete Level 55, your rank automatically changes to Season Level 1. You keep all of your Core Progression unlocks.

PRE-SEASON:

For the pre-season, the level cap is 200, and there are only 3 Prestige’s to earn. You cannot rank up farther than Level 200 in the PRE SEASON. (There will only be one pre-season, leading up to Season 1)

SEASONS and PRESTIGE;

Each Season you will be reset to Season Level 1. You will keep the prestige icon of whichever Prestige you were on before the reset. Only your level number will reset.

There are 4 Prestiges to earn each Season, with 50 Levels per Prestige, bring a base level cap of 200, anything after Level 200 is Master Prestige, which goes all the way to 1000, each Season.

Let’s say you only make it to Prestige 3 Level 198 in Season 1, so, in Season 2 — you will only have to rank up two more levels and then you will automatically get Prestige 3 (as you were only two levels away from it last season). Then, from there you can continue to rank up towards the next Prestige, in ascending order.

Your progress will not restart, so if you purchase Black Ops Cold War in the middle of say, Season 3 — you will start at Core Level 1-55, and will then rank up to Season Level 1, and then to Prestige 1. If you miss a whole season, you can just continue levelling up towards whichever Prestige you are near and these will stack, so you will not miss out on entire Prestiges.

This is great, as it will mix things up a bit, and will add to the longevity of the game. Not everyone will be at the same prestige each season, as some people will still be catching up on previous prestige levels, while others may be at the highest level possible.

PRESTIGE SHOP:

When you reach Prestige Master (Level 200) for your first time, you will permanently unlock the Prestige Shop, which can be used to choose new prestige icons and so on.

PRESTIGE MASTER:

From Level 200 – 1000, players will receive Milestone rewards for every 50 Levels they achieve, leading up to 1000. These rewards consist of Prestige Keys and tier skips (this is what we currently know of).

There are 6 Prestige Master Calling cards, 1 per season, for players who make it to Level 200 each time.

That sums it up in the most easy to understand way we could come up with. While it is confusing, it should be welcomed with open arms. It takes nothing away from the current experience of Call of Duty while adding more longevity and rewards for the most hardcore players.

  1. What we really all want here is another years worth of maps and content drops. It wouldn’t he hard to extract some more warzone areas for maps. For example a metro map would be cool.

  2. Modern warfare should add these maps from modern warfare 3. The maps are terminals, sea town. The 2v2 map shipwreck.

  3. Thank you this gives a lot of fun for myself and my family to work for and all my friends who I play with and against you guys rock
