Black Ops Cold War Season 1 will reportedly add a new location to Call of Duty: Warzone!

Notable Call of Duty insider Adi Source (@BlackOpsLeaks on Twitter) reported on the news while sharing a plethora of Black Ops Cold War Season 1 leaks.

In these leaks, Adi Source revealed that Alcatraz (Now apparently reimagined as Rebirth Island) would be included in Call of Duty: Warzone. The Alcatraz location is no stranger to battle royales. Previously, Alcatraz was the second and final map in Black Ops 4’s Blackout.

As always, it should be said that none of this is official information and you should take this news with a grain of salt until Activision or Treyarch reveal more.

Even though this is potentially massive news, it’s something we’ve known about for a while now. In the Season 1 roadmap for Black Ops Cold War under the “Classified Warzone Experience” section, there are hints towards Rebirth Island. We have more background information on Rebirth Island and its historical counterpart in this video (skip to around 3:30).

That’s not all. Earlier this year, VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb reported that Blackout would be returning to Call of Duty in some fashion.

Back in September, we spoke with Grubb about this report, if he could offer up any more details, and whether or not this report was still accurate. Here’s what he had to say:

“I don’t know if it’s still accurate. When I tweeted it, I noted that it’s coming back in some way because someone at Activision noted that they were having trouble testing Blackout because of COVID. But it always made sense to me that they could’ve meant Blackout content for Warzone.”

At this point, it’s fairly safe to assume that this was connected to Rebirth Island. It’ll be interesting to see how exactly Rebirth Island will flow with Call of Duty: Warzone. Is this going to be a separate event playlist like Warzone’s Zombie Royale and the Alcatraz map in Blackout? Or is it just a major addition to the Warzone map? We’ll be sure to update you when we learn more.
