Unfortunately for some Black Ops Cold War players, the M16 and AUG tactical rifles are reportedly set to receive some major changes.
In a tweet, Call of Duty insider Tom Henderson advised players to level up the M16 and AUG as much as possible because both weapons will be massively nerfed in the near future.
Black Ops Cold War has already made several major changes to its weapon balancing so far from the MP5 to the FFAR. So, it’ll be interesting to see how Treyarch changes the M16 and AUG. Will they continue to be extremely viable weapons like the MP5? Or will they get heavily nerfed like the FFAR?
New Weapons In Black Ops Cold War Season 1
While players could be losing out on 2 fan-favorite weapons in the future, Black Ops Cold War Season 1 could introduce the next meta weapon(s).
Notable Call of Duty leaker Adi Source recently reported on a ton of potential BOCW Season 1 content including new maps, modes, blueprints, calling cards, Warzone changes, and weapons.
According to these leaks, the Groza and MAC-11 are coming back to Call of Duty. In the official roadmap image, you’ll also notice that Adler is holding a Striker shotgun. All 3 of these weapons are rumored to be included in the game’s first season.
BOCW Season 1 will begin on December 10th. This is also when the game will officially integrate with Call of Duty: Warzone.

The M16 & AUG nerfed is toooo much. It now takes 3-4 bursts to the chest to kill or 2 bursts to the head/upper chest. They decreased damage accuracy and fire rate of both weapons. They also nerfed the damage and range on the GALO SA12 & HAUER 77 by 47% essentially making all 4 weapons ESSENTIALLY USELESS at there supposed effective damage range. My shotguns now miss shots point blank hipfire on enemy’s standing directly in front of me not moving, tested in bots as well. They better make all snipers a 2 shot chest kill if they want to balance the game because now the only 2 weapons (M16 & AUG) that counter them have been nerfed to the point they might as well remove them from the game. Even with all improved recoil attachments the M16 & AUG move so far to the left and right when you shoot I might as well go and play csgo. If they nerfed other weapons this hard I will never put another cent into this game and will just stop playing multilayer all together.
