Black Ops Cold War will have Field of View (FOV) sliders on all platforms for the first time in Call of Duty history!

A recent Treyarch blog post revealed the news, stating that players can test it out in the upcoming beta:

“We’re extremely excited to bring the Field of View (FOV) slider feature to all platforms for the first time in a Black Ops game, and you’ll be able to try it out during the Beta. This is another way we’re optimizing Black Ops Cold War for a globally connected, cross-play experience, and the team is dedicated to providing the best performance possible for this feature across all platforms at launch. Give it a shot this weekend and see which setting feels right for you.”

Other Quality Of Live Improvements In The Black Ops Cold War Beta

This is huge news for console users who have been wanting FOV sliders for years. But, that’s not all. Treyarch is dead-set on making their upcoming game more accessible and customizable. There are even more quality of life features that you’ll find in the beta.

For starters, we have another first time ever for Call of Duty. A ping system has never been incorporated in conventional Black Ops multiplayer. Like the immensely popular Call of Duty: Warzone, you’ll be able to mark enemies, locations, scorestreaks, objectives, etc. Treyarch said that the ping system is mapped to the left d-pad on controllers and Z on keyboards by default. However, you’ll be able to mess with those gameplay settings in the menus.

There’s also more customization coming to your HUD in the beta. Here’s an excerpt from the blog post describing how you’ll be able to customize your HUD:

“It’s our goal to offer a wide range of heads-up display (HUD) element settings so you can customize your UI experience to what works best for you, even during the Beta. This includes the ability to toggle visuals for the compass, enemy and ally health bars, hit markers, crosshairs, player names, and button hints. In Black Ops Cold War, how much you see on your HUD is up to you.”
