Treyarch Celebrates 115 Day By Revealing Upcoming Black Ops Cold War Zombies Content
Happy 115 Day! Treyarch just released a blog post detailing all sorts of upcoming content coming to zombies later in Black Ops Cold War Season 1.
From Firebase Z to Tombstone to teasing new enemy types for Onslaught, there’s just so much to get into. So, let’s start with the second map coming to Black Ops Cold War, Firebase Z.
Firebase Z Story Details And Setting
For starters, Treyarch did not reveal a Firebase Z trailer in the blog post. However, the studio did say that there will be more “story details, new intel reveals, and the official gameplay trailer to share in the lead-up to launch.”
While we didn’t get a trailer, Treyarch did go over plenty of details and even unveiled a logo for the map.
Set in Vietnam, Firebase Z will bring “new characters, new enemies, new gameplay mechanics, and much more” to the popular game mode along with “a badass new Wonder Weapon.”
Story-wise, Treyarch didn’t announce too much. Requiem and Omega are still in an arms race to uncover the secrets of the Dark Aether with the latter group pulling ahead. This brings us to Firebase Z. Here’s how Treyarch sets up the upcoming map.
“With the destruction of the ‘Projekt Endstation’ anomaly site in their wake, Grigori Weaver and the agents of Requiem turn their attention to a far greater threat: a new Dark Aether outbreak site in Southeast Asia.
After learning Agent Maxis has been captured by Omega Group, Weaver deploys Requiem’s strike team to infiltrate the facility where she’s reportedly being held: Outpost 25.
Against all odds, Requiem forces will infiltrate the outpost to rendezvous with an Omega Group informant, save Samantha Maxis, and above all else, survive the new horrors that await them in this abandoned research facility.”
Firebase Z will be available for all Black Ops Cold War players on February 4th.
How Will Tombstone Work In Black Ops Cold War And When Will It Release?
In the blog post, it was announced that Tombstone would be coming to Black Ops Cold War on February 4th.
However, the perk will work a bit differently compared to its Black Ops II counterpart. Here’s how Treyarch described the revamped perk and all of its upgrades.
“Unlike its first incarnation in Black Ops II, the new-and-improved Tombstone Soda will now transform the player into a shadow within the Dark Aether after being downed. In this shadow form, you’ll be equipped with weapons to help give you a fighting chance to revive yourself. However, if your health is reduced to zero while in shadow form, you’re dead.
-
Tier I – Shadow form can regenerate health.
-
Tier II – Increase downed duration to 60 seconds.
-
Tier III – On death, drop a Tombstone stash that saves your weapons, equipment, and resources.”
Napalm Strike, Artillery, Express, And More Coming To Black Ops Cold War Zombies
Treyarch ended the blog post talking about all the other content coming to Black Ops Cold War zombies, including Double Weapon XP weekend and zombies free access weekend (both are live right now).
PlayStation players will be able to play Express in the Onslaught mode starting on February 4th. On that same day, Treyarch will add the Artillery and Napalm Strike scorestreaks to the crafting table.
If that wasn’t enough, the studio teased more enemy types coming to Onslaught and several new pieces of intel.
